Doon Reel Set

An osprey soared over the lake, scanning the shimmering water for fish. It hovered a moment, beating the air with its wings like the sculling of oars. Then it tucked its wings and dove. It struck the water like a stone, then rose from the surface with a fish in its talons.

The butterfly’s black parchment-thin wings bore orange stripes, and white dots out toward the tips. It sat on the rough graveled lakeshore and flapped its wings slowly.

The lake was bordered all around with thick green forest. Sunlight reflected silver on the surface of the lake. Flying insects buzzed across the water.

Dainty white flowers like intricate upturned porcelain teacups bunched together in the humid heat at the ends of the tree branches just overhead.
